WCHS Mock Trial Closing Argument Competition Final Round Results

Mock Trial

The final round of the Mock Trial Closing Argument Competition took place this morning, April 9, 2019, on the stage in the Worth County High School Gymatorium.  Two teams - consisting of Hannah Holton, Jeremy Newsome, Emma Lynn, and Rachel Thomas - competed for the top spot.   Judge Render Heard, the Juvenile Court Judge for the Tifton Judicial Circuit, listened to the student attorneys argue their cases. Judge Heard ruled in favor of the Prosecution, argued by Hannah Holton and supported by her partner, Jeremy Newsome.  Twelve students began the competition and competed through two preliminary rounds, one quarterfinal round, and one semifinal round to make it on the stage today.  We are very proud of all the students who argued.  A special thanks to State Court Judge Ralph Powell for acting as the legal adviser for the second year of this endeavor and giving of his time to these students.  Before beginning, today’s final round of the Mock Trial Closing Argument Competition, student participants along with faculty involved in the competition enjoyed a Chick-fil-A breakfast sponsored by the law firm of Wilmot and Powell. #RamPride
