Superintendent of Worth County School District
Mr. Bill Settle
I would like to welcome you to Worth County Schools! Our staff and I are proud to serve the students, parents, and the community of Worth County!
As I begin my tenure as Superintendent, I want to assure the community that I will always put the best interest of the students first. Our school system is charged with an extremely critical role of educating all students for the 21st Century and it is my expectation that we become the best in the state of Georgia in educating our students!
I am a firm believer that a school district is responsible for educating the whole child. It is my pledge, that all of our schools will work extremely hard to ensure they are meeting the academic, social, and emotional development of every child. I encourage parents to become active partners with teachers and administrators in educating our children.
There are many good happenings going on in our school district! We have a new high school under construction that is expected to open in August 2018. In addition to our new high school being built, we are also in the process of implementing our new CTAE Career Academy within our high school. This shift will broaden the scope of all our students’ educational experiences and will be a major step in preparing all our students for the 21st Century workforce.
We are extremely proud to be the home of Georgia’s Teacher of the Year, Mr. John Tibbetts! Mr. Tibbetts teaches economics at Worth County High School and will spend the 2017-2018 school year touring the state as a spokesman for education in Georgia. We will miss him in the classroom, but we know he will make Worth County shine each time he speaks on behalf of education in Georgia!
I encourage students to value every day of their learning experience! Take advantage of the great educational opportunities and challenges that face you each day. Make your education your priority as you collect experiences and skills that will prepare you for the 21st Century workforce. Education is the key to opportunities down the road, so prepare by developing work readiness skills such as critical thinking skills, analytic skills, communication skills, literacy skills, and work ethic skills.
Parents, I encourage you to continue to be active partners in your child’s education. Communicate often with the teachers and administrators to ensure your child’s educational needs are being met on a daily basis. To ensure our teachers have the best opportunity to help your child reach their full potential, it is vital that you ensure they are in school each day! Together, we can assure ourselves that Worth County Schools are performing at their highest capacity.
I look forward to a great 2017-2018 school year!
