Mayor Yearta Speaks to WCMS 6th graders

Sylvester Mayor, Bill Yearta, spoke to sixth grade students to kick off the "If I Were Mayor" essay contest.  Mayor Yearta spoke about his experiences as a fifth term mayor and answered students' questions about his job.  

Bill Yearta is in his fifth term as mayor of Sylvester.  He served as a city council member from January of 1998 until December of 2001.  He then became mayor in January of 2001.  Mr. Yearta has been a Sylvester businessman for thirty-three years.  He owns a retail jewelry and gift store, Fletcher and Yearta, in downtown Sylvester. Mr. Yearta also serves on the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia Board.
