Mrs. Rivera's Students Connect with Holocaust Survivors!!!!!!

Mrs. Rivera's 8th Grade Language Arts students recently connected with history in a very real way.  Through the William Breman Jewish Heritage and Holocaust Museum in Atlanta, Mrs. Rivera's students read about Holocaust survivors and wrote letters to them.

WCMS receives donation from WCCR!!!!!!

Worth County Community Revival (WCCR) recently collected and distributed school supplies to Worth County Middle School (WCMS).  The supporting churches of WCCR are: Antioch Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, Bridgeboro Baptist Church, Bryant Drive, Evergreen, First Baptist Acree, First Baptist Church Sylvester, Gordy-New Bethel,  Isabella,  Liberty Hill,  New Hope,  New Union,  Northside,  Pine Forest, Pine Hill,  Poulan, Red Oak,  Salem, Sumner, Terrell Baptist,  Union, and Unity.  WCMS thanks WCCR for their donation.  A special thanks also goes to Mr. Bruce Gordon and Mr. Jason Jones for delivering the donated school supplies.

Perfect Attendance Award for March 2014!!!!!

The Perfect Attendance Award for March goes to India Walker (6th grade), Jessica Gibbs (7th grade), and Brianna Zupko (8th grade).  Congratulations!!!!!!!!

Good Citizen Award for March 2014!!!!!

Congratulations to Cassandra Hernandez (6th grade), Elizabeth Souter (7th grade), and Terrance Harris (8th grade) for receiving the Good Citizen Award for March.  Way to go!!!!!!

Farm Bureau Essay Contest!!!!!

Reese Hancock won the Farm Bureau Essay Contest. His essay was about how agriculture has changed in the last 75 years. He was awarded a cash prize. Reese has been asked to read his essay at the next Farm Bureau meeting in November.  Reese is pictured with Mr. Hank Youngblood, Farm Bureau President.  Congratulations, Reese!

"If I Were Mayor Contest" Winners!!!!!

Each year the city of Sylvester promotes an essay writing contest for the middle school students.  The contest is an effort by the Georgia Municipal Association to make awareness of government and the community it serves.  This year over 150 sixth graders participated for a chance to win the $100 savings bond.  The results of the contest are:  Outstanding Achievement - Alexis Dorsey, 1st Place - Slade Watkins, 2nd Place - Jerry Carver, 3rd Place - Gregory Williams (pictured left to right).  Honorable Mentions are:  Zion Akporido, Chloe Cook, and Jesse Gray.  The winners will be awarded at the Mock Council Meeting on April 14, 2014.

Mr. Chris Jones - Teacher of the Year!!!!! Mrs. Sevier congratulates Mr. Jones for receiving the Teacher of the Year award.
Mr. Jones teaches Science in the sixth grade.

Saturday School Program

The next Saturday School date is February 8th.  WCMS students are encouraged to attend Saturday School.  Saturday School is a beneficial educational program.  Click on the school house icon for more information and to obtain a copy of the Saturday School application.  The Saturday School dates for the remainder of the school year are:  Feb. 8, Mar. 1, Mar. 15, Apr. 5, Apr. 9, May 3.

RAMP UP!!!!!!!!!

WCMS offers academic tutoring daily for all students from 7:30-8:00.  Students should take advantage of this opportunity to: get assistance with homework, work on other assignments or tasks, and work on projects.
